Grant S. Mitchell is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law of Campbell University.  He has received specialized training in trial advocacy.  His work in pretrial matters and the trial of civil cases distinguishes his abilities as among the best of the trial lawyers of his class.  He has been involved in civil litigation representing injured victims in automobile and tractor-trailer collisions as well as inadequate security, product liability and nursing home negligence cases.

Ronnie Mitchell has lived in Cumberland County virtually all his life when his family moved from rural Sampson County to Fayetteville.  He attended Wake Forest University where he received a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, majoring in philosophy and political science.  He received his degree as an honors graduate in May 1975, then attended Wake Forest Law School, where he participated in Moot Court and he was selected as Lead Articles Editor of the Law Review.  An honors graduate from the law school, Ronnie received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, in May 1978.  While in law school he served as a research assistant and as a legal writing student-instructor.  He received academic awards including, among others, selection to the Law Review and the United States Law Week Award.

Since then, Ronnie has continued to be involved in a broad practice of law, involving both civil and criminal cases in the state and federal courts.  For more than thirty-one years, Ronnie has been involved in complex criminal and civil litigation, including cases involving automobile collisions, tractor-trailer litigation, constitutional civil rights, police practices, and premises liability claims, among many others.  He has aggressively pursued litigation against corporations and others who have injured people negligently or deliberately, obtaining settlements and verdicts in favor of injured and deceased individuals and their families, and he has successfully defended civil cases brought against sheriffs’ deputies, police officers, health care providers, various public officials as well as individuals.

He has been a successful appellate attorney as well, handling in excess of 100 appeals, some on behalf of his own clients and many more at the request of other attorneys who asked for his help in handling appeals. He has served as an appellate attorney in cases in the state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.  He has been the trial attorney in a myriad of cases, including personal injury, insurance, law enforcement and governmental as well as criminal cases.

He has served as a contributor, author or co-author of more than fifty legal publications, and he has been a lecturer for a vast number of continuing legal education programs. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, The American Association for Justice, the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, and a number of other professional organizations.

Ronnie has been named to The Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who in American Law, North Carolina Super Lawyers, and he has received many other professional recognitions.  For a period of time he served as an adjunct professor of law at the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University while continuing the practice of law.

Ronnie also serves on The Board of Directors of the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Committee, The Fayetteville State University Foundation Board, and he has previously served on the Boards of the Fayetteville Area Youth Soccer Association, Fayetteville Youth for Christ, as well as other boards and committees in the Fayetteville-Cumberland County community.
